"Rejected".
"Rejected".
1 Samuel 13:9-11 -"And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.
And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;"
1 Samuel 13:13-14 -"And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee."
1 Samuel 15:26 -"And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel."
Waiting time is one of the major price a saint dread most in God's service because of fear of uncertainties and the issues of life and sufferings and rejection of men. In the midst of all it is better to suffer rejection whilst waiting on the Lord in obedience to God's will, for it will end well and marvelously for the faithful saint.
King Saul made a huge mistake with his inability to wait because of fear of rejection, this was the very core and basis of his failure as many do today, heeding to the pressures of men and tensions of life thereby missing their set goal in life.
In Saul's case, during the time he was asked to wait till Samuel's return, he was under intense pressure from the people.
The people scattered from him signifies that, they must have said so many things, flattered, coerced him and gave some meaningful reasons and even threats why he must not wait for Samuel. When they saw that he didn't heed they scattered from him. And he became worried, insecured, and compromised then fell woefully.
It's same in this days whereby a saint after waiting for so long, due to pressures, tensions, and many challenges in his life he bows to compromise and follow the short cut. And many are not even ready to wait for their time appointed how much waiting for Christ's returning.
For the fact that it was God who anointed him as king by His prophet ought have given him more confidence to wait till Samuel returns even if it was the people that asked for a king but God has the final say.
Having taken to their pressure and failed, none of them were able to deliver him from the consequences. It is costly to stand between two opinions because of half-heartedness.
When he saw that the people scattered from him, he went ahead and offered strange offering and breached the due order. In trying to please the people he fell into God's hands and incur His wrath and displeasure.
May the pressures of life not pull us out of God's will which will make us fall headlong into God's hands of judgment in Jesus Name.
Waiting was meant to be his divine training which he never had. It was meant to be an experience that would have matured him for greater heights as king. But he lacked divine signals and sensitivity.
May the good Lord, enlighten us to be more sensitive to Him and His interest in every environment and situation that He allowed for us for our good in Jesus Name.
Instead of bowing to tensions and chaos of life which can escalate one's woes, after much waiting, it is better to keep waiting till God's mercy prevails. (Job. 14:14).
Oftentimes, waiting time might attract tribulations and trials if permitted by God for His good purpose. It will work out patience, experience and then hope. (Rom. 5:4-5).
Tension and fear of loosing regard from the people and fear of being rejected by them made Saul to compromise and he stopped waiting.
During waiting period a saint will have many uncontrollable thoughts in his mind, at war within him coupled with outward challenges, people and environment which will always come. This is an experience that will enable him to see beyond and have a deeper understanding of God's intents and purpose in his life.
Saul didn't see far beyond, he had no experience and no intimate relationship with God which would have helped him to see the glory afar off whilst waiting.
He was anxious about the people, the position, power, fame and acceptance and approval of men. He was scared of being rejected by the people.
This made him irresponsible before his God. Anyone who seeks men's acceptance and approval instead of God's is not responsible before Him.
'To whom much is given much is expected', rather Saul was expecting much from the people instead of taking his full position with utmost steadfastness. If he was responsible as a king it would have made him to realize and understand his huge responsibility and divine place in God.
Afraid of rejection, then anxiety, insecurity and impatience surfaced and exposed king Saul to foolishness which made him to commit more blunders and horrible sins before God. And this cost him his throne and place in God's heart.
Beloved, your peak of fulfilment in life and in God's will for you starts from the place of WAITING. It's your place of training, breaking, prunning, moulding, experience and encounter, maturity, acceptance and approval by God. The way of the cross it is!
