"The Lord That Delivered Me".
"The Lord that delivered me".
1Samuel 17:33-50.
1 Samuel 17:33 -"And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth."
1 Samuel 17:37 -"David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee."
King Saul assessed David as a feeble youth not capable of fighting the enemy of God's people called Goliath because of his qualifications as a man of war from youth. But David's testimony had to convince him and unknown to him that David's testimony exceedingly outweighs Goliath's.
There are some saints in Christ many do not know in depths because of their physical size or appearance and disposition. They are actually those who have gone through thick and thin with God and in the knowledge of His truth by their experience in life as they walk with Him.
Till they tell it, they are not easily known and except when it's God's time to prove Himself and their worth to glorify His Name for their good.
It is also needful and imperative to allow others wherever God has ordained for them to express their hidden potentials when the opportunity arises, It may be that it's the right timing for them as it was with David and Joseph etc.
Before David went to fight with Goliath, he has won the battle already and overcame with his positive and potent testimony as well as his graceful experiences with the lion and the bear he shared with king Saul. (1Sam. 17:37 Rev. 12:11).
David knew how to give glory to God at all times, this was his lifestyle and personality and God also knew him to be so till he came before the king. (1Sam. 13:14 16:12).
David also knew how to acknowledge God in His goodness and mercy towards him by his past events even though he hasn't seen the end result of the present situation staring hard at his face. He was a man full of faith and confidence in God by his experiences.
His words pleased God so much and not just king Saul that he had God's blessings and approval through the king. His words took him through the journey and path to victory and greatness.
The words you speak in any given situation as permitted by God determines how far you will go in life and in your service to Him and His Kingdom.
As David spoke, the heavens sealed his word and put on him the whole armour of God. And the Armour is Christ the Word Himself in his mouth, in him and through him. (1Sam. 17:37-39).
"King Saul put an helmet of brass upon his head; and armed him with a coat of mail." This typifies what some will do before they go for warfare and for any crucial event that will bring about a turning point in their lives. They will become ritualistic and try to apply other methods to augment their trust and faith in God.
But not so with David. He held on to the God he knew from the beginning even though it was going to be a new experience with him completely different from his way of life and bush events. He was sure of one thing, he knew that God is in charge in all and over all whether in the bush or at war.
He followed the way which he knew with God by his word - 'I have not proved them, and he put them off him". He was too sure of His God he serves. (1Sam. 17:39).
Just like what some will say, "you know, you have not gone through this before why not apply this method or that formula?". For those who knew their God, they will not fall into such counsels as David no matter how harmless or right it may be. David knew only one method - God his Father and the good Lord did not disappoint him.
"He took his staff in his hand, and chose five stones" - Depicts a man of deep insight, wisdom and full of the knowledge of God and His truth and he went to Goliath in the Name of the LORD and conquered. (1Sam. 17:40-50).
Beloveth of God, the Name of the Lord and His goodness in your mouth will speak, avail and conquer for you in Jesus Name. (Romans 8:37).
Be filled with His goodness and faithfulness evermore.
God's Loving Heart.
