"I Am Therewith To Content"
I am therewith to content.
Philippians 4:11-13 - "Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me".
The Scripture here tells about the apostle Paul's deep experience in his walk with God.
In his enlightenment thus far, he learned so much in various events of life that happened to him and which he also went through.
One of the greatest lesson he learnt in life was to live a life of contentment with God.
By experience, you are able to know how much of what God intended for you and how He wants you to live your life in Him as He has designed for you.
He is a God of order and very principled in His ways, so He wants us to live likewise.
Paul learned in his walk with God that He can permit situations and trials for His children in order to lead them to a life of contentment Him.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"
There is a time for everything as He wants for us. He aims at our full satisfaction in Him and not on those times and seasons. Because He alone will never change.
Hence, times and seasons should not be the determining factor of our living but Him alone.
When there are times of plenty, it should not alter our trust and satisfaction in Him and in our relationship with Him.
Same is applicable to times of want, it should not alter our trust, satisfaction and relationship with Him. (Phil. 4:12).
Times of want or in abundance should not make us lack contentment. And of course as humans, in times of want, we will want to alternate and look elsewhere apart from God and lack of trust sets in.
Also, in abundance, we may depend on ourselves and will power to yearn for more and feeling insecured not to lack, thus forget about Him.
But for those like Paul who by experience have gone through these times of want and abundance understood in God's light that it has been Him all the way as their only Satisfaction and Sustainer and not the times.
With wealth of experience in God by those events of life as times and seasons, you are able to come to full understanding of who Christ is in you and through you and also learnt how to be abased, yet not moved, and how to abound, yet no agitation and anxiety to seek for more other than God.
You are able to learn like Paul that when hunger comes, you are used to it as part of the times knowing that God is in control. And when you are full, it is still Him in control and in charge.
So it is, in times of hunger, you are already used to life of perserverance and patiently wait on Him continually living for Him knowing Him as your Contentment alone.
In all situations and circumstances and by the power of the Holy Spirit you are divinely immnuned and you stand strong in Christ. You can also stand the test of time He permits to happen. You are fully satisfied in Him, no distractions in want and in abundance.
Just like King Solomon stated in his writing based on his vast experience, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God and obey His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man". (Eccl. 12:13).
The apostle wrote based on his deep experience also "I can do all this through Christ which strengthenth me." (Phil. 4:13).
All in one word, be content with God alone by His power.
It is good to have a great and blessed experience with God via your life events and happenings, this makes your Christian life a reality through Christ who lives in you. And you are strengthend in Him, the determining factor of your life and Living Strength.
God's Loving Heart.
